Vision: Creating a Christian community that people want to be a part of.

Beliefs

Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Lamar Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

 1. About God.

God is the creator and ruler of the universe. There is one God with three personalities: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The only way to have a relationship with God is through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Genesis 1:1; Psalm 145:21; Col 1:16; Psalm 90:2; 2 Cor 13:14.

2. About Jesus The Christ.

Jesus Christ was with God at the beginning of time and created all that is with God. He was born of the Virgin Mary, and was fully human. His death on the cross saves us from our sins if we accept him as Lord and Saviour. His resurrection and ascension are the proof of Jesus’s power and position with God. Col 1:15-20; Matt 1:18-2; John 1:1-4; 3:16; 1 Cor 15:1-8.

3. About The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is one with God and Jesus Christ. He convicts us of our sins and need for a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. He lives in each Christian upon Baptism, and continues to influence and empower Christians to live for God’s glory. He gifts each Christian as he chooses for ministry to the world and to serve God’s church. We seek to live under His control daily. John 16:8-9; Romans 8:26-27; Eph 1:13-14; 3:16; 4:30; Gal 5:16, 25; 1 Cor 12,13.

4. About man.

We believe that man was created by God to be in relationship with him, but due to man’s choice are now separate from God and separated from God due to sin. Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour restores that relationship. Gen 1:27; Is 53:6; 58:1-2; Rom 3:23; 5:8.

5. About salvation.

Salvation is a free gift from God that cannot be earned. The death of Jesus Christ on the cross paid for our sins. Every person can be forgiven our sins if and as we confess our sin to God, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, place our faith in him, make a public confession of Jesus as Lord, and are baptized for the remission of our sins. Rom 3:23; John 3:16; Rom 10:9; Acts 2:38; Matt 28:19; Matt 3:13-17.

6. About the Bible.

The Bible as written, is the infallible word of God, and the final authority for all matters of faith and life for God’s church and the world. Rom 15:4; 2 Tim 3:16; Psalm 119:105, 160.

7. About the church.

The church is the body of Christ to the world. It is empowered by The Holy Spirit to continue to influence people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Every Christian must be involved in the life, fellowship and ministry of a local congregation for their own spiritual benefit and to influence the world for Christ.
